Dear students and parents,

I am thrilled to announce that Edward’s Violin Studio is moving to Mendham, NJ, officially as of September 1, 2025.

I realize this may come as a surprise, and I hope it is a welcome one. For the past nearly dozen years we’ve met in such a cozy welcoming environment in my home, and I’m thankful for the way our home provided a room to use for teaching. I have loved seeing all of you come in through the garden and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the violin studio.

As the studio has grown more diverse, and students are developing so far in their musical skills, I have been looking for more ways to serve you better. We want to provide more playing opportunities, have more variety of classes, and invite more students to participate. Accordingly I have felt the need to find a different and more publicly accessible space. And now, I have found something that I think you’ll enjoy and benefit from in Mendham.

I anticipate more opportunities to perform in the community, more frequent playing time for students, more options for classes, and more flexibility for rehearsal and recitals as we will no longer be contracting with other venues for regular classes.

The space is located at 6 Hilltop Road in Mendham. It is a spacious “retail” space with its own parking, shared with other businesses. There is a nice coffee shop and another music studio nearby, as well as a few other interesting things you’ll enjoy. In the same complex as our new studio there is a photography studio that works with families, and word is that a second-hand toy shop is about to open. A yoga studio is next door. All things for parents to do during and after group classes, a feature I know you’ll enjoy.

Lesson times will be similar to those offered in the past; afternoon and evening times for school-age children and some mid-day times for home-schooled, young children and adults.

The space has two stories; we will primarily use the upstairs area for violin lessons. Group classes will likely be on the first level and will be held on Saturdays as well as an additional group class time on Thursday evenings. You will have access to two group classes per month as part of your regular tuition with the option of adding more.

I will also be offering art and meditation classes and more special workshops. I hope you’ll take advantage of those as well.

Getting to Mendham from Morristown and surrounding areas is an easy drive. I realize it will be further for some students, but I’m hoping that the quality of the drive makes up for that, and I will talk with those who are furthest away to work out a virtual lesson schedule if the commute becomes unmanageable.

I’m really looking forward to showing you all the new space, and making it as comfortable and usable as the one we have now. We will have an open house in early September for current students so you can come and see the space.
